Hello Everyone!

On this pleasant day I thought it’ll be better to start with an inspirational story. I’ll be talking about a person’s life which became the reason for me to stay motivated and become successful in life.

Nandhini is a girl who’s based from a rural area of the country and she is the only one who is educated from her family. Her education later became her profession. She became a primary school teacher in a reputed school and also got married to an educated person to start her own family. She gave birth to 3 boys and 1 girl.

Speaking more about Nandhini, Nandhini is someone who believes that education and discipline is one of the most important factors of life in order to be successful. Moreover, she is an understanding and mature person. Being a primary school teacher, she faced a lot of struggles for almost 30 years to educate all her kids.

Her only goal in life was to educate all her kids because she believed that an education can support an individual’s life. Therefore, she sacrificed all her happiness just for her children’s education. Moreover, most of her family members and relatives advised her to not spend on education because it’s expensive but she refused to listen to all the criticisms and managed everything all by herself.

Infact, she even left her parents, relatives, friends and hometown in order to relocate her family to a city just to provide better education and good opportunities for her kids. Nandhini knew that city life was going to be tough to handle but she was brave enough to take the risk. At the initial stage she could only afford small homes for rents. On the other hand, she also had to face financial issues where she only had to take 2 meals per day which got to a point where some days had to pass with just a glass of water. There were times where nandhini could not even bare the travelling experience to school and mosque for her kids. At the time it was just 5 to 7 rupees (LKR).

But even after all these struggles she never gave up on her goals even though she had the chance to do so. Nandhini’s day starts at 4 am everyday with her morning prayer followed by cooking breakfast and lunch by 6 am because she wont have enough time to cook after school because it’ll get late and the kids will be left in hunger. Hats off to all the hard working teachers in the world.

Nandhini’s husband is also a school teacher who is a social activist. His school is also far away from home and almost all his salary is spent on all the essential needs for his house and bare all the travelling costs.

Nandhini’s only dream was to show the right path and guide her children in the right way. In her books, her achievement is considered to be buying products which she likes without worrying about the price tag. Hopefully she will get to that stage and I’ll make sure I will bring her to that stage in life and I believe it’s not too long away.

Yes, you heard it right. I said “I”. She is none other than my own mother. Her real name is Fareena.

I remember my grandparents pointing out the struggles my mother has gone through just to provide the right opportunities, they also advised us to make sure all her hard work paid off. Even though my grandparents are not alive we are slowly but surely getting there in life. Alhamdulillah… We are financially stable now. 2 of her children including me are software engineers and another one is an assistant manager and the last child of the family is going to be a “chemical engineer” in the next few years.

She is the reason for me to be motivated in order to chase my goals and also to be a disciplined human being. All the hard working mothers deserve all the respect in the world.

I ask you to celebrate your motherhood if you appear to be a mom who loves her child or children, a foster mom, a mom with an adopted child, an aunt who looks after a child, or a female who looks after a child and assumes the role of a mother. I wish every “mom” in society and across the sector a very happy Mother’s Day today.
